My name is Dr L, and I have been teaching people to drive in Birmingham for years. Before I became an instructor, I understood firsthand how stressful learning to drive can be — the self-doubt, the nerves, the fear of failing. That experience shapes everything about how I teach.

Everything you need to know before booking.
No — you can start practical lessons at any time. However, you must pass your theory test before the DVSA will let you book your practical driving test. We recommend working on both together so you are ready to book the moment your driving is up to standard.
Without the clutch and gears to worry about, you can put all your focus on road awareness, positioning, and building real confidence. Most students progress noticeably faster in automatics. With electric vehicles becoming the norm, an automatic licence is also completely future-proof.
It depends where you are starting from. Complete beginners typically need around 30 hours, partly trained drivers around 20 hours, and those who are nearly test-ready often just need 10 hours to sharpen up. We give you an honest, no-pressure assessment in your very first lesson.
The 10-hour package (£365) suits those who are nearly test-ready and need a final polish. The 20-hour package (£720) is for partly trained drivers who want to bridge the gap properly. The 30-hour package (£1,050) takes complete beginners from their very first drive all the way to test day. All package prices cover driving lessons only — the test day fee is not included in any package and is charged separately.
No hidden fees. Your package price covers lesson hours, the dual-control car, your instructor, and lesson notes. We are not VAT registered so nothing extra is added to your lessons. There are two government fees you book directly through Gov.uk — the DVSA theory test (£23) and practical test (£62). Separately, we charge a test day fee for accompanying you on your test day; this varies depending on your test centre and pick-up point, and we will always confirm the exact amount with you before your test is booked.
We are based in Birmingham and cover the surrounding areas. We can collect you from your home, your workplace, or any convenient spot nearby. Just let us know when you book and we will sort the pickup.
Yes — you take your test in the same dual-control automatic you have trained in, so there are no surprises on the day. Please note that the test day is not included in any package. We charge a separate test day fee which varies depending on your test centre and pick-up point. We will confirm the exact cost with you in advance so you always know what to expect.
No problem — life happens. We just ask for at least 48 hours notice so we can offer the slot to another student. Get in touch by phone or WhatsApp and we will find a time that suits you.
Not at all — the majority of our students start out nervous. Our instructor is known for being calm, patient, and reassuring. We go at your pace, never rush you, and make sure you feel settled before moving on to anything new. Your confidence matters as much as your technique.
